Guide to Choosing Bathroom Hardware Part 1: Choosing the Right Color

@StudioMcGee

We've talked about choosing the proper hardware in our previous blogs, and we've given you lots of tips and examples. Today let's focus more on the one room that can get lost in detail and be overlooked but still has the power to sell a home or make a difference: bathrooms! Although other spaces, like kitchens, might excite us a little bit more, bathrooms are just as crucial for the overall aesthetic of your home. So first in the series, let's see some tips on choosing the right color for your bathroom hardware!

@KairosCabinetry

NO.1 Matching other metals in the room!

You most likely have other metal features in your bathroom. Your sink, shower, the mirror frame, even your toilet holder! They usually set the tone for the whole bathroom before anything else. So, a straightforward and efficient way to create a balanced look is to choose your handles and knobs in the same color, just like our client did in the image above!

NO. 2 Coordinating your hardware with your tiles!

If you want something a bit different but don't want it to stand out too much, let's focus on the bigger surfaces in the room, like the tiles! Whether they're on the floor or the walls, your tiles contribute a lot to the style of your bathroom. Hence, choosing the hardware in relation only makes sense! If you have beige or creme tones in your tiles, for example, gold hardware shades would match that perfectly. Or for darker tiles, black hardware could feed into the elegant harmony!

NO. 3 Coordinating your hardware with your cabinets!

Last but not least, the exact location your hardware will be showcased: the cabinets. Depending on the color of your cabinets, you can either match the hue or create a strong contrast for a bold touch. For example, in the image above, our client has chosen to go with the second option, and our handles combined with their beautiful cabinets created this beautiful contrast that turned simple units into statement pieces! Whereas in the image below, another client of ours wanted to enhance the beauty of their dark cabinets with matching hardware that won't outshine them!
